Looking back and stepping forwards
Tonight we had a visit from Sam Foster who talked a little about Epiphany and asked us to think about what our personal favourite aspect of Chrsitmas was, memorable journey's we had undertaken and what God might want for us in the coming year. A very relaxed and thought provoking start to Parish Sundae in 2012.

Cranberry Sausage Rolls and Mulled wine
Oh my word, what a great evening. The Christmas Trees, the food and the wonderful presentation by the young people (On the theme of 'Christmas Crackers') all made for a very festive Parish Sundae. Many thanks to all involved.

Giving in the current economic crisis
Wow! What a great evening. Lots of people, young, old and in between. Lots of good food. drink and conversation. What more could you want? We talked about the effect the recession is having on the ability of charities to raise money. This clip is of a boy receiving a shoe box from Samiritan's Purse. He hasn't even opened it yet!

Conflict
Discuss, discuss, discuss!! Some really excellent questions for us to mull over tonight about conflict and how we handle it.
1. "Conflicts can't be avoided, but they can be managed". Do you agree? How can we manage conflicts?
2. "The fact that we are not appalled by the amount of broken relationships is saddening... The things we are taught to avoid tend to revolve around lifestyle issues: drinking, smoking, swearing... But we are not dismayed by a lack of loving relationships." Do you agree? Are we appalled by the lack of love between people in the world? Would things be different if we were?
3. "If you want to see a picture of your walk with God, take a look at the picture of your walk with the people around you." Why do think this was said? How can it relate to conflicts in our lives?

New Beginings
Today was the start of something new and exciting for the Church in Filey. After a wonderful communion service celebrating the re-opening of St John's after many months of refurbishment, Parish Sundae was back where it belongs... in the main church. As soon as the service was over, the PS team got to work bringing in tables, moving the chairs around and setting up the presentation, projecting straight onto the newly plastered back wall. What a difference! The kitchen and table waiters were rushed off their feet with orders for food, drink and cakes galore, all amply provided by Margaret and Colin. Emily headed up the discussion which was all about new beginnings and the way that we can keep making new commitments to God, preparing for new adventures every day if we choose to. The children were in fine creative flow, producing an amazing collage of Joseph.

Ventures children's holidays
With everyone in a holiday mood it seemed appropriate to have a look at the CYFA Venture camps for children which give kids a fantastic time as well as answering their questions about Jesus and the bible. CYFA run both residential holidays and camping holidays for children between the ages of 8 and 18.
